Customers and buyers have raised their requirements and safety regulations for electrical & electronic goods in response to the expanded growth of e-commerce and marketing worldwide. But, most of them still need clarification and are unfamiliar with the issue, even though SIRIM Certification is required to have goods displayed in each main trade. So, would this work? It’s pretty basic; all you have to do is learn the SIRIM application’s requirements and processes. By obtaining SIRIM certification for your products, you can unlock numerous benefits and gain a competitive edge in the Malaysian market.
WHAT IS MALAYSIA SIRIM CERTIFICATION?
This is the only accreditation agency in Malaysia that the state has entirely controlled. Each factory and company is permitted to register for SIRIM and to examine and acquire approval on electric and electronic goods using a recognized set of rules.
In a nutshell, SIRIM Certification is used to validate the security of electrical and digital equipment. It verifies that products meet the relevant Malaysian Standards (MS) and international standards to ensure consumer safety, environmental protection, and quality. When a consumer sees the “SIRIM” indication, it implies that the electric and electronic equipment is suitable for use. Furthermore, the Malaysian state has stated that SIRIM should approve all imported electric and electronic gadgets before selling them in the markets.
MAJOR CHANGES IN CERTIFICATION PROCEDURE
SIRIM recently updated key words in its certification procedure. The following are the major changes:
- It is important to check the SIRIM certificate every year. The certificate remains valid for a period of five years.
- In accordance with Article 1, only testing results from certified facilities (e.g., Moore’s laboratory) with an issue date of fewer than five years are accepted for filing;
- Suppose technology that has been certified by SIRIM for more than 5 years would have to be marketed in Malaysia. In that case, it should be returned to the facility for examination, and a new SIRIM request should be submitted. The initial SIRIM certification would expire and no longer be acceptable.
- Product screening could be done via an authentic laboratory or transformed into SIRIM certification by providing a CB analysis and certification during the SIRIM accreditation request procedure in Malaysia.
- In this instance, repeatedly submitting materials for testing is usually unnecessary. However, SIRIM may ask clients to submit tests to ensure that the samples indicated on the initial analysis and the ones provided are consistent.
