Thailand Makes the safety standard for portable power banks mandatory

The Thai Industrial Standards Institute (Thailand certification ) officially announced that the current voluntary safety standard for Portable Power Banks “TIS2879-2560” is now mandatory.
This standard covers portable power storage containing a secondary battery and electric charging circuit with DC (Direct-Current) output voltage not over 6V with at least one output.

UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) and batteries with an output power over 6V in every channel such as a battery used to start a vehicle engine are not covered.This new announcement will become effective on November 16, 2020. From this date, Safety Approval will be mandatory for all Portable Power Banks to be imported/sold in Thailand certification.
