As has been expected for over a year, on June 15, 2018, the notice of the extended ’date of cessation of presumption of conformity’ associated with EN 62368-1:2014 has been published in the EU Official Journal (OJ).
The original published date was June 20, 2019, which now has been extended eighteen (18) months to December 20, 2020. This date now is aligned with the Date of Withdrawal (DOW) for EN 62368-1:2014 that CENELEC announced in December 2016 for EN standardization purposes.
Per Note 2.1 of the same summary, “The new (or amended) standard has the same scope as the superseded standard. On the date stated, the superseded standard ceases to give presumption of conformity with the essential or other requirements of the relevant Union legislation.”
What this means is that as of December 20, 2020, the superseded standards (EN 60065 and EN 60950-1) will cease to give presumption of conformity with the EU LVD (2014/35/EU) and are replaced wholly be EN 62368-1:2014.
