Updated Procedures for China SRRC Type Approval
If you are a manufacturer or importer of radio transmitting equipment in China, you should be aware of the new regulations that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has issued for the 2400MHz, 5100MHz and 5800MHz frequency bands. These regulations will affect the SRRC approval process and the testing requirements for your products.
The MIIT published its Announcement No. 129 on October 14, 2021, titled “Notice on Strengthening and Standardizing Radio Management in the 2400MHz, 5100MHz and 5800MHz Frequency Bands”. The announcement states that starting from October 15th, 2023, the SRRC approval for radio systems will follow these new rules. The main purpose of these rules is to ensure the frequency compatibility and coexistence of different radio systems in the same frequency bands, and to improve the anti-interference capabilities of relevant radio transmission equipment and utilize frequency resources efficiently, fairly and rationally.
According to the announcement, the new rules introduce several new interference avoidance technical requirements for radio transmitting equipment, such as “pre-launch search”, “monitoring and avoidance” and “equivalent occupancy rate”. These requirements will increase the complexity and cost of testing for your products.
The announcement also clarifies that SRRC certificates obtained before October 15th, 2023 are valid until December 31th 2025. If you want to continue selling your product after this date, you need to upgrade the certification standards by applying at least six months in advance.
This announcement is a significant change in the radio management policy in China, and it will have a direct impact on your business. You should be prepared to comply with these new regulations and plan ahead for your product development and certification.
