Indian Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) confirmed that MT&CTE certification is no longer mandatory since October 1, 2018 as it was stated before.
On September 27, 2018, TEC published Notification TEC/10/2018-TC, which confirms the following Telecom equipment imported or sold in India after January 1, 2019 is subjected to testing and certification:
Telephone instruments
Modems
Audio conferencing equipment
Fax machines
ISDN CPEs
Radio and transmission products including microwaves
UHF and VHF equipment
MRTS equipment
Satellite equipment
WiFi access points and controllers
DWDM equipment
Digital cross connects
Multiplexing equipment
SDH equipment and cordless phones
The following Telecom equipment imported or sold in India after April 1, 2019 is subjected to testing and certification:
GPON equipment
DSL equipment
IP terminal
PABX
Media gateways
Signaling gateways
SBC
Soft switches
Mobile devices
BTS
Repeaters
Compact cellular networks
Routers
LAN switches and loT devices, and any other Telecom equipment not indicated in paragraph 1
According to the rules, mandatory testing and certification should be carried out in line with the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipments Procedure, hereinafter referred to as “MT&CTE Procedure”. This procedure was announced by Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC) via TEC/M P/DD/TCP-702/02 in October 2018 separately.
