Korea MSIP certification: the Korean agency for technology and standards (KATS) proposed an amendment to KC 62133-2 “Secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or another non-acid electrolyte – Safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells, and for batteries made from them, for use in portable application-Part 2: Lithium systems” abolishing KC 62133 by the end of 2020.
The amendment includes the safety of the battery installed in personal mobility below the maximum speed of 25km/h (except e-bikes) in the scope to harmonize international standards IEC 62133 and IEC 62133-2.
Comments are accepted until May 30, 2020 with a proposed implementation date of July 1, 2020. Moreover, starting January 1, 2021, batteries installed in personal mobility equipment below 25 km/h maximum speed shall also comply with the standard.
