The Canadian authority, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), issued radio standards specification “Licence-Exempt Radio Apparatus: Category I Equipment”. Devices operating on the 24-24.25 GHz frequency band was previously certification-exempt. According to the new specification, this equipment now have to comply with the new requirements to get access to the market of Canada.
Thus, devices operating on the 902-928 MHz, 2400-2483.5 MHz, 5725-5875 MHz and 24-24.25 GHz frequency bands must comply with the following requirements:
Please, note that models of devices operating on the 24-24.25 GHz frequency band that have previously been certification-exempt, may continue to be manufactured, imported, distributed or sold, for the life of the vehicle where such device models are already installed.
However, devices installed on new vehicles must comply with the new specification.
We would like to remind you that the Equipment classified as Category I Equipment must have either a technical acceptance certificate (TAC) issued by ISED’s Certification and Engineering Bureau or a certificate issued by a recognized Certification Body (CB) to get access to the Canadian market.
