The European Commission published the Decision (EU) 2020/6591 to adopt EN IEC 63000:2018 for RoHS Directive. This standard provides guidance to the technical documentation for the assessment of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). The previous standard EN 50581:2012 will be withdrawn by 18 November 2021. EEE complies with the harmonized standard shall be presumed to demonstrate conformity with the requirements in RoHS Directive.
EN IEC 63000:2018 specifies the technical documentation that the manufacturer needs to compile to declare compliance of chemical restriction. It is extensively based on EN 50581 and is therefore almost identical, except removal of the wordings specific to the EU RoHS Directive. This aims to address various applicable chemical restriction worldwide. The new standard also updates the normative reference in EN 50581:2012.
