The Department for Business of the UK, Energy & Industrial Strategy released guidance for using the new UK product making called UKCA on February 2, 2019. In most cases CE marking will still be available for products being placed on the UK market, however, if products require third-party assessment of conformity, and if this has been carried out by a UK conformity assessment body, the new UKCA marking will have to be applied after March 29, 2019 (where required by legislation). This will not be the case if the certificate of conformity has been transferred to an EU-recognized body (in which case the CE marking would apply).” Additional guidance about UKCA marking will be announced by the authority shortly.
